The Peres Center for Peace has inaugurated the new school year with its annual Sport For Peace program. The program brings together Israeli children living in Sderot and other communities that border Gaza with Palestinian children from the West Bank.
Former Israeli President, Shimon Peres, commenced the first soccer game of the 2014 program by saying, “You will spread word of the games, of peace instead of confrontations… Everyone loves to play soccer, regardless of religion or nationality. You need peace, and you will carry the message of peace.”
